Jefferson's
Dream
When America
was young
She was a dreamer's land,
And I helped to free her
With the pen I held in hand.
What
symbolized America's spirit
Was the declaration I penned and signed
That said from tyrant England's rule
We had defiantly resigned.
Now, two
centuries later
As I gaze with granite face
Upon a land where dreams come true
I see a lovely place.
It's a place
that isn't perfect
But I still dream it will be
Already one dream's come true here:
The dream of liberty.
